Childrens Day Celebration Ideas: Games for Kids | Children's day, Child day, Childrens

Let’s celebrate Children’s Day this April 25 as they deserve it! Children complete more than a year at home; a time without parks, without games with friends, without celebrations or walks. At DoctorAkí we tell you the importance of this day and we compile several ideas to celebrate at home with the whole family.

The day the child is held in Colombia each year on the last Saturday of April. This date was institutionalized in 2001, through Law 724 of December 27. On this day, activities are carried out that seek to promote the well-being and rights of children, especially the right to play, essential to promote their integral development.

The ideas that we propose are based on the game, since with the game three great learning networks are activated in the brain: the recognition and attention network, the strategy network and the affective network, according to the Cognition Research Group and Language in Childhood from the National University, and the Game and Childhood Corporation.

Some games or activities are simple and can be done with what is at home; others are ways of recognizing, respecting and loving children, through nurturing and loving education.

Invite family and friends to a virtual session. Agree with the parents of your children’s friends, your family, grandparents, aunts, cousins and others, so that they connect at the same time and can greet all the children in the family.

To set the scene you can place decoration made of paper, crafts and prepare a cake or the children’s favorite dessert.

Tell your child to put on his favorite costume and his eyes are sure to light up. For them it is absolute happiness to be able to play to be a superhero, doctor, firefighter, princess, dinosaur, unicorn, in short.

If you don’t have a costume, you can put together an original one with whatever you have at home, be it old clothes, typical costumes, or carnival costumes. After everyone is dressed up they can put together a parade, a contest or a play, remember the imagination has no limits.

Whether you have a patio, balcony or terrace in your house, look for an inflatable pool or a large bathtub. Let the children put on their bathing suit and enjoy! They can also play games with water balloons, eat a fruit salad as a healthy snack, and remember, take care of your skin using sunscreen.

This game is loved by all children! Take some of his favorite toys and hide them in various corners of your house: living room, dining room, bedroom, bathrooms, garden.

The children will look for each object following clues such as “there is a very ferocious animal in a place with many plants”, “there is a musical instrument that will sound in the place where we bathe”, and so on. With this activity, in addition to having fun, they will also learn.

Set up a tent for camping, or if you don’t have it available improvise with sheets, chairs and the dining room table. Turn off all the lights … The night will become the time to share stories, sleep in a different way and eat a snack. Maybe you need Kids playhouse at home, so your kids can play camping night at their Kids playhouse.

According to the Game and Childhood Corporation , we can divide the activities according to age:

Play with gestures, onomatopoeia, shadows, water, objects made of different materials.

Make up stories, put together puppets, role-play, make origami, jump rope, sing, paint.

Mime games, puzzles, made-up stories, riddles, tongue twisters, family plays, are inspiring and catch your eye.

Play safe challenges, strategy games, games with the use of technology, scientific experiments, games that require memory.

Finally, Carolina Salgado Lozano, Presidential Counselor for Children and Adolescents and the Brújula Exprés program indicate that the celebration of Children’s Day at home should be “an opportunity to change parenting practices that are naturalized, but are violent and affect present development. and the future of children ”.

  • No more nagging scolding, when they are just asking for attention.
  • No more insults with words that hurt.
  • No more punishments with blows using the hand, the strap, the flip-flop or any object.
  • No more pinching, pushing or pulling of the ears that violate the bodies of girls, boys and adolescents.
  • No more comparisons between the same children in the family or close environment.
  • No more using children and adolescents to lie.
  • No more unequal relationships where they are undervalued and are not recognized as people with rights.
  • No more authority with use of violence.
  • No more losing control of emotions and taking it out on kids.
  • No more avoiding respectful limits.

A resounding yes to learn and apply practices based on respect, care, trust, empathy and love. Let’s take advantage of this time at home to play, share, laugh, learn, get to know each other and make home a protective environment.
