JUNK and mess can built up so quickly if you’re not on the ball.
You might get so used to the chaos that you don’t realise how bad the situation has become.
Luckily, this cleaning and organising pro shared how to know it’s time for a big clear out, and the easiest ways to make it happen.
Caroline Solomon shared her top tips on TikTok, making life easier for fellow hoarders.
The pro says it’s time for a declutter if you find yourself creating small piles around the house, because there’s no space in places things are meant to go.
Likewise, if you’ve done your laundry, but go to put it away to find no space – it’s probably time to declutter.
It’s easy to spend an afternoon trying on the clothes that are taking up so much room to decide what you actually want to keep.
Anything you don’t need can easily be donated or even sold.
Another tell-tale way to know it’s time for a clear out is if you buy something, only to get home and discover you already own it.
Caroline shares that she kept buying eco-friendly toothbrushes, when she already had them piling up at home.
Discovering items you thought you lost might seem like a good thing.
But the organising whizz says that this is probably a sign that you home is being taken over by mess.
Even if you do try to reorganise cupboards and drawers, if they get end up packed after a few days, you’re almost definitely hanging on to things you don’t need.
Viewers agreed with the advice: “I’ve got a three bedroom house, only me in it. Yet I’ve accumulated SO much stuff over the last year. It’s overwhelming!”
Another added: “My dressers if full of clothes that are too small!”
A third joked: “My place is super small, I don’t need to declutter, I need a bigger house!”
